RIDC Member Spotlight: Charlotte Running Company

"In the wake of our Community Unity Cookout, I've taken some time to reflect. I've thought about what it originally meant to me, and then that thought evolved into the emotion of gratitude because of how it transformed our community. Hailey Mangrum charged us all to 'challenge the status quo' with a presentation that brought us all to laughter and tears. Mad Miles led us on the run and manifested energy and spirit as only they could. Our friends from D17 drove down from Maryland to fellowship with us. We honored Reggie McAfee, a living legend, the first African American male to break 4 minutes in the mile. Charlotte Running Company was able to bless our circle, expand our reach, and show our appreciation. Our extended family showed up, and it was beautiful! Black, White, Gay, Straight, Christian, Agnostic; Humanity! We loved on one another, and its purpose was achieved. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: we are a reflection of our community, and it's our obligation to serve. In all of my endeavors and my own imperfections, I really want to serve people and impact everyone that I touch; that's it."
