Photos: Haraka Run and Walk Grand Opening

The grand opening of Haraka Run and Walk, the first running specialty store in Prince George’s County and the inaugural recipient of the RUN THE BLOCK grant, was a success.

The weekend was filled with energy, community, and celebration as runners, walkers, local run clubs, and supporters came out to welcome this exciting new space. Seeing the doors officially open and the community show up in such a big way was a proud moment for everyone who believes in expanding access and opportunity in the running industry.

The festivities kicked off with a pre–grand opening fun run and walk on the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail, departing from the store and bringing runners and walkers together to mark the moment. Throughout the weekend, guests had the chance to try out shoe demos from brands like Brooks, Altra, and ASICS, connect with representatives from local run clubs across Prince George’s County and the DMV, and enjoy giveaways and special discounts as the community welcomed Haraka Run and Walk to the neighborhood.

We’re incredibly proud of owners Carol and Jesse Holland and the vision they’ve brought to life in Prince George’s County.

Take a look at the photos to relive the celebration and see the community that showed up to make this moment special. Feel free to share and tag Haraka Run and Walk and RIDC on social media!
