Running Industry Diversity Coalition Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 21, 2026

The Running Industry Diversity Coalition (RIDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we take care of the information our community shares with us the same way we take care of each other. This policy explains what we collect when you visit runningdiversity.com, join our community, or sign up for texts, how we use it, and the choices you always have.

Information we collect when you visit our site

Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which collects some information automatically so the site can run smoothly and securely. This includes details about your browser, network, and device, the pages you visit before and during your time on our site, and your IP address. We also use Squarespace Analytics to understand how people find and use our site, which may include clicks, pages visited, scrolling, searches, and timestamps. You can read more about how Squarespace handles this data in the Squarespace Privacy Policy.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies, which are small files saved to your device when you visit a website. Some cookies are always on because they allow Squarespace to securely serve the site to you, while analytics and performance cookies are only used after you acknowledge our cookie banner.

Information you share with us through forms and newsletters

When you become a community member, apply to a program, or reach out through a form on our site, we collect the details you choose to share, such as your name, email address, and phone number, so we can respond to you and keep you connected. If you sign up for our emails, we use your contact information to send you news about programs, scholarships, jobs, and community events, and you can unsubscribe anytime using the link at the bottom of any email. We share this information with Squarespace, our website and email provider, so they can provide these services to us.

Text messages

When you opt in to receive texts from RIDC on our website, we collect information that helps us send you those messages, which may include your name, mobile phone number, the date and time you opted in along with your opt-in status, and how you interact with our texts (like links you click or keywords you send). We share this information with Squarespace, our text messaging provider, so they can send messages on our behalf.

Your mobile information and phone number will be kept confidential and will not be sold, rented, or shared with unauthorized third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to any text you receive from us. You can find the full details of our texting program in our Text Message Terms (see below)

Donations and purchases

Donations to RIDC are processed through GiveGain, which collects your payment information directly and handles it according to its own privacy policy. If you make a purchase or register for an event through our site, we collect the details needed to complete your order, such as your name, email address, billing information, and phone number, and payments are handled by our payment processor rather than stored by RIDC.

How we use your information

We use what you share to run our programs, keep you informed about opportunities in the sport and business of running, respond when you reach out, process donations and registrations, and improve our website. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

Children's privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has shared information with us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any message, stop our texts by replying STOP, and ask us to access, update, or delete the information we hold about you by emailing us at comms@runningdiversity.com.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our programs grow, and we will always post the latest version on this page with its effective date.

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, we would love to hear from you.

Text Message Terms

RIDC Text Message Terms of Service

Effective date: October 21, 2026

Program name and what you'll receive

RIDC Texts is the text messaging program of the Running Industry Diversity Coalition (RIDC). When you opt in, you agree to receive recurring text messages from RIDC about program registration openings, community events, and highlights from across the RIDC community, sent to the mobile number you provide.

How you join

You can join by entering your mobile number in the sign-up form on runningdiversity.com and checking the box to agree to receive texts. Signing up is completely optional, and you never need to join to take part in RIDC programs, events, or membership.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies, and we keep our texts focused on the updates that matter most to you so your phone isn't flooded.

Cost

RIDC never charges for texts, although message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan.

How to stop messages

You can cancel at any time by replying STOP to any message from us, and you can also reply END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT. You'll receive one final text confirming you've been unsubscribed, and after that you won't hear from us by text unless you choose to sign up again.

How to get help

If you have a question or run into any trouble, reply HELP to any message, or reach out to us directly at comms@runningdiversity.com and we'll be glad to help.

Carrier liability

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Eligibility

By opting in, you confirm that you are the account holder for the mobile number you provided or have the account holder's permission to use it. If you're under 18, please get permission from a parent or guardian before signing up.

Your privacy

We treat your phone number and information with care, and we never sell, rent, or share your mobile information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Please see our Privacy Policy (Please view above) to learn more about how we handle your information.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms or the texting program from time to time, and we will always post the latest version on this page with its effective date.
